Applying God's Truth To Nutrition

The application of God's Word!

Spiritual Nutrition

Healthy Eating for the Christian Heart focuses on the development of healthy spiritual habits by identifying five core spiritual nutrients and comparing them to their physical counterparts:

•Prayer is like water-vital for life and essential for survival.
•Bible study is like protein necessary for growth.
•Christian fellowship is like carbohydrates-gives us energy.
•Worship is like healthy fats-helps keep our hearts healthy.
•Thinking on good things is like vitamins-necessary for helping the other nutrients work effectively.

We Are Called To A Life Of Obedience. We Are Called To A Life Of Fruitfulness.

Those who love the Lord are called to a life of obedience – keeping His ‘commandments’, keeping His ‘Word’(John 14:21, 23). We cannot live this life in our own strength. Christ must make His home in us (John 14:23). Once He has come to live in us, we are to abide in Him (John 15:4). Jesus says to us, ‘Apart from me you can do nothing’(John 15:5). You cannot live the Christian life until Christ comes to live in you. ‘The Holy Spirit teaches us all things’(John 14: 26). Christ’s ‘words’ abide in us (John 15:7). We are called to a life of fruitfulness (John 15:5, 15) – ‘the fruit of the Spirit’: ‘love, joy, peace…’(Galatians 5:22-23). Jesus loves us (John 14:21). He gives us His peace (John 14:27). He gives us His joy (John 15:11). Love, Joy, Peace: Let this ‘fruit’ be seen in us. Let it be shared with others. ‘Love one another… Go and bear fruit… love one another’(John 15:12, 16-17).

Led By The Spirit, Strong In The Spirit, Let Us Press On To Glory.

Each of us must choose. We can ‘live according to the flesh’ or we can ‘live according to the Spirit’. We can ‘set the mind on the flesh’ or we can ‘set the mind on the Spirit’(Romans 8:5-6). The new life in the Spirit is just the beginning. God is preparing us for the greater ‘glory that will be revealed in us’(Romans 8:18). We have ‘the first fruits of the Spirit’. The Holy Spirit is ‘the guarantee of our inheritance’. He is the starter which whets our appetite for the main course! With Him in our hearts, we long for more – ‘an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you’, ‘the redemption of our bodies’, ‘the glorious liberty of the children of God’(Romans 8:21-23; Ephesians 1:13-14; 1 Peter 1:3-5). Led by the Spirit, strong in the Spirit, we press on to glory (Romans 8:14, 26, 17).

The Lord Has Saved Us. We Are To Serve Him.

The people of Israel were involved in the work of the Lord. The work was based on God – not Moses. Moses would not be in the promised land. God would be there. Moses would ‘not go over the Jordan’. As God’s man. he was to prepare the people for their task: ‘you shall go over and take possession of that good land’(Deuteronomy 4:22). Privilege involves responsibility. Israel was a privileged people, redeemed by the Lord, delivered from bondage ‘by a mighty hand and outstretched arm’(Deuteronomy 4:34). Israel was a responsible people, called to obey the Lord: ‘Obey His laws and commands’(Deuteronomy 4:40). The Lord our God is ‘a merciful God’(Deuteronomy 4:31). He has saved us. We are to serve Him. Let Him reign in your heart. Let there be ‘no other besides Him’(Deuteronomy 4:35). Flee to Christ for refuge (Deuteronomy 4:42-43), and live each day with ‘the attitude of gratitude’.

We Come To The Lord's House ...

We come to the Lord’s House so that we might offer our heartfelt worship to the Lord.
We come to the Lord’s House so that we might receive encouragement from the Lord and be changed by the Lord.
We come to the Lord’s House so that we might receive strength from the Lord and be sent out to proclaim the Word of the Lord.

Psalm 13 - "How Long, O Lord?" (Part Two).

v. 2a: "How long must I wrestle with my thoughts ... ? " - Now is the time for wrestling with the Lord no longer: "Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be ... 'How will this be,' Mary asked the angel, 'since I am a virgin?' ... 'I am the Lord's servant,' Mary answered. 'May it be to me as you have said.'" (Luke 1:29, 34, 38). v. 2b: "How long must I ... every day have sorrow in my heart?"- Now is the time for sorrowing no longer: "I am the Resurrection and the Life" (John 10:25-27). Christ points us to the future. v. 2c: "How long will my enemy triumph over me?" - Now is the time for being defeated no longer: "Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death ... Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted" (Hebrews 2:14-15, 18). Now is the time for believing God's promises. Now is the time for receiving His blessings. Now is the time for coming to the Saviour. vs. 3-4: "Look on me and answer, O LORD my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death; my enemy will say, "I have overcome him," and my foes will rejoice when I fall." Without God, we are overcome. vs. 5-6: "But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, for He has been good to me." With God, there is trusting, rejoicing and singing - trusting in His unfailing love, rejoicing in His salvation, singing of His goodness. From verse 1 to verse 6, the Psalmist's mood has changed dramatically. He wishes to lead us on this movement from life without God to life with God.God has come near to us in Christ. He is Emmanuel - God with us. God invites us to come near to Him. We come to Him through Christ. Through Him, we have this great testimony: "It is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me" (Galatians 2:20).

Psalm 13 - "How Long, O Lord?" (Part One)

The ‘how long’ questions are questions asked by a man who feels that God is far away. These questions must, however, be reversed, if we are to move beyond these feelings into the reality of knowing God.
God says, ‘How long?’ The Lord is saying to us, “It doesn’t matter how long. Now is the time for a new beginning.”v.1a: “How long, O LORD ? Will You forget me forever?” – Now is the time for forgetting the Lord no longer: “Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead” (2 Timothy 2:8). v. 1b: ” How long will You hide Your face from me?” – Now is the time for hiding from the Lord no longer: “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). These blessings are hidden from those who, in proud arrogance, refuse to come to the Lord – “You have hidden these things from the wise and learned” (Matthew 11:25). They are “revealed” to those who “come” to the Lord with the sincerity and humility of ‘little children” (Matthew 11:25, 28).v. 2a: “How long must I wrestle with my thoughts … ? ” – Now is the time for wrestling with the Lord no longer: “Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be … ‘How will this be,’ Mary asked the angel, ’since I am a virgin?’ … ‘I am the Lord’s servant,’ Mary answered. ‘May it be to me as you have said.’” (Luke 1:29, 34, 38).v. 2b: “How long must I … every day have sorrow in my heart?“- Now is the time for sorrowing no longer: “I am the Resurrection and the Life” (John 10:25-27). Christ points us to the future.v. 2c: “How long will my enemy triumph over me?” – Now is the time for being defeated no longer: “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death … Because He himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted” (Hebrews 2:14-15, 18).Now is the time for believing God’s promises. Now is the time for receiving His blessings. Now is the time for coming to the Saviour.

Praying For True Leadership Of America & America's Future

I'm just wondering how many business could operate, function and be permitted to stay in business owing 1.42 trillion dollars. We are not talking about millions or even a few billion dollars, we are talking about almost 1.5 trillion. Somethings wrong, drastically wrong and the American people are paying for and being held accountable for the mess.

It seems that there are a hundred if not a thousand excuses for the mess, however no one takes responsibility or is held accountable as the American people are being offered excuses and all these great new plans on how to fix the mess.

All these financial disasters, the economy, the mortgage problems, the stock market problems, banking problems and every other financial problem has brought great depression on America as people are suffering all do to mis managment and poor leadership.

Pray that God would place true leaders, honorable leaders and leaders of integrity in our government, that the citizens of America would be freed of those who place them in bondage, debt, and that bring depression upon our nation and people. Pray that righteousness, truth and true leadership comes forth and that the American people are set free from leaders that lack Godly wisdom.

Watching Your Salt Intake

When my wife started encountering some heart problems, the doctor gave her some information on eating habits. One of the things that he made very clear was about salt intake and placed her on a 2,000 mg limit per day. So she started watching her sodium intake and looking into food facts. Well you would be surprised, but when you do the math, breakfast, lunch and dinner can easily hit 3,500 mg. Just a trip to the local fast food place for lunch can easily hit 1,500 mg or more.

I too started changing my eating habits, using less salt, eating more fish, selected vegetables, chicken and so on. I cut out the salt, the coffee, and stopped eating so much fast food. As the months passed, I started feeling better and having more energy. You'd be surprised how much sodium your taking in, even at a local restaurant. Ask for the nutrition chart, you just might be surprised.

Watch your salt intake, eating habits and live healthier.

Preparing For Severe Weather Conditions

Friday, October 02, 09, Many feel that we are in for some severe whether as the winter months unfold. Over the last 5 years we have watched the weather patterns continue to change. Increased tornado's, hurricanes and especially flooding. Flooding that has overtaken entire cities and forced millions to run for dry lands like in Louisiana.

If this years winter months bring more severe weather patters, tornado's and especially flooding do to rains and hurricanes. We can expect potentially the same destruction. On another note California has experiences lots of fires which makes for perfect mudslide conditions with storms and heavy rains. The Midwest of course deals with extreme cold, snow, ice and blizzards.

Regardless of where in the United States you live. Don't wait until the storms overtake you. Be prepared and have provisions set aside just in case. Let us take advantage of the situations of the past and apply wisdom for potential situations in the future.

Bible Studies, Word Searches & Great Study Tools

Do you love reading and studying the scriptures? Many many years ago I found myself using the King James Bible and The Strong's Exhaustive Concordance to do all my Bible studies. Very time consuming. Then the day came when I got my first computer and a friend shared blueletterbible.com with me. Wow! Did my studies take on a whole new form, not to mention that they became much easier and expanded. If you haven't seen blueletterbible.com give it a try. You'll love it.

Bringing Change When Change Is Needed

Life can at times be overwhelming and we can find ourselves is seasons that are down right unbearable. Of course we wonder many times how this has happened to us as if life has dealt us some bad cards. Well, sometimes life does, however other times our decisions bring forth consequences that lead to seasons of difficulties. If this describes you, know that your not alone. It happens to many of us. Yet if we turn to Christ for forgiveness, wisdom, guidance and apply the teachings and sayings of Jesus. We can soon find change coming to us, right when it's needed most.

Allow Jesus to get into the boat of your life. Jesus can calm the storms.

Standing In Christ’s Strength, We Resist the devil. Defeated By Christ, the devil Flees From Us.

‘The people complained in the hearing of the Lord’(Numbers 11:1) – Remember: All our words are spoken ‘in the hearing of the Lord’! There was ‘a rabble among them’(Numbers 11:4): What problems there are when such people are mingling with God’s people! What are we to do when this happens? – Pray for God’s help (Numbers 11:10-15). God will not disappoint us – He gives people who will ‘take their stand with us’(Numbers 11:16), the Spirit who rests on God’s people (Numbers 11:25), the Word, ‘strong meat’ to sustain our spiritual strength (Numbers 11:31-32; Hebrews 5:12-14). The lure of the world, the pull of the flesh – ‘the rabble’ wanted to go back to ‘Egypt’(Numbers 11:4-6): This is the attack of the devil. Standing in Christ’s strength alone, we ‘resist the devil’. Defeated by Christ, Satan can do nothing but ‘flee from us’(Philippians 4:13; James 4:7; 1 John 3:8).

The Doctrine & Commandments Of Men

Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

All Because Of A Flu Virus

As I'm sure that you are aware of, the flu season will be coming soon. Last year my daughter and wife caught a bad case of the flu. My daughter recovered in around seven days, however my wife ended up in the hospital in ICU. The virus that she caught ended up attacking her heart, damaging her heart mussel and almost took her life. She left the hospital 7 days later with heart failure, a pacemaker and a heart that only functioned at 20%. That was in December of 2008. By June of 2009 her heart was functioning at 33% as some improvement has come forth. Life has changed to say the least. My wife before this illness was in perfect health. Who would have thought.

With the flu season soon to come and fears of a swine flu epidemic. Be wise and take precautions to protect your health and that of your family.

The Straight And Narrow

Jesus spoke of the wide and broad path saying many go therein and that it leads to destruction. Jesus also spoke of the straight and narrow, saying few find it and it leads to everlasting life. This can be applied to many aspects of life. It is the same with a house being built upon a solid foundation vs. an unstable foundation. The house which is built upon a solid foundation will stand when tested. However, a house built upon unstable foundation will not.

Be sure to find the narrow path and build your life on solid foundation.

Are You Considering A Relationship With God

As I've grown older, I've looked back over the seasons and simply remembered all the years and seasons I've encountered. There have been great times, good times, extremely difficult and challenging times and even down right seasons of depression. Of course many of those seasons that were not so good were seasons walking in darkness and not knowing God. However, as the years came when I started seeking God and a relationship with Jesus, life seemed to make more sense. It was the years of not knowing God that life seemed more like a maze with very little meaning.

If your encountering seasons whereas life just seems to be beating you up, and you're always struggling. Consider seeking God, coming to know Christ as your Lord and Savior and allowing God's grace to flow in you're life. Find a local church fellowship that you can attend and where others in Christ can encourage you, mentor you and help you.

There is peace and fullness of joy for those who seek and find, for those whom knock and the door is opened unto them. There is a wonderful relationship with Jesus awaiting all those who seek Him. For Jesus will meet you with open arms.

Seeds That Produce Destruction

We all occasionally encounter anger. Anger is one of the ways we express many different emotions. That is to say that under the anger can be a variety of feelings and emotions. Yet when anger becomes rage and enters into those uncontrollable stages, that anger is dangerous and can bring destruction to all that experience it. Un controllable anger can destroy a home, a family, a marriage and even close friendships. It is like a flood that overtakes people and their lives.

Here are some proverbs on anger: Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools. A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife. He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated. Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

Reaching Out To Others In Need

Our world is filled with people in need. Even the very city or community that you live in is filled with hurting people. Sometimes it's the fatherless child down the street, or a single mother that is struggling. Other times it is some one's mother or father, our senior citizens. Other times it's a widow, or a troubled lost teenager. Regardless of the age, situation of circumstance, there are many hurting people within our communities.

There is a saying that I dealy love. "Look, See & Do Something."
Blessings come through reaching out to those in need.

Teachers, Schools And Our Children

Thank God for all the teachers that dedicate their lives to teaching our children. Truly, there are some wonderful, compassionate and caring teachers out there. It takes a special person to be a teacher and teachers make our world a better place.

However, and as thankful as we all should be for teachers and the school system. We must also be watchful of what our children are learning at school. Not just in the classroom, but outside the classroom from other children. We should also make sure that our children learn about God and that they read the bible. Why? well look at it this way. Join The Movement

Have you ever heard those slogans, like Join The Movement, or come experience this and that. It amazes me some of the slogans that we can come up with regarding church conferences and events. Catch The Fire, Holy Ghost Revival, Night Of The Prophets and so it goes. Some of them are pretty cool and many times are around the conference, event, teaching, or revelation. Personally, I've had a blast at many church conferences and events.

On the join the movement. Just make sure you know where the movement is going before you join it. If it doesn't line up with scripture, make like Casper and get ghost.

Blessings, and have fun.

Count the Cost Before You Open The Door

In life, we daily make choices. Many times our decisions are not led by wise thoughts, but through selfish desires. When this occurs we many times open doors and enter into difficulties. For example a person that is out partying and drinking. While in the bar and setting, everything seems fine. The person may have drink after drink while having fun at the same time. Oh, what the heck, one last drink. Soon thereafter the establishment closes and that very same person is now driving their car. A few blocks later and crash, there's a accident. Someone is insured, vehicles are damaged and the person that decided to drive after drinking too much is arrested for drunk driving. A few nights in jail, a trip to court, a few thousand dollars in fines, the lost of driving privilege and oh how life has changed.

You see many times there are prices to pay for the decisions and choices we make. Not all things are fruitful. Many times our choices and decisions can affect not only our lives, but the lives of others. Within such we fail to count the cost or count the consequences.

Be wise, count the cost, make wise decisions and do the right thing.

A Simply Life Saying On Giving

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38

Isaiah - Forgiven By God, Called To Be A Prophet

* Isaiah confessed his sin – “I am a man of unclean lips” (v. 5).

* Isaiah’s sin was forgiven by God – “Your sin is forgiven” (v. 7).

* Isaiah prayed, “Here am I. Send me” (v. 8).

* Isaiah was called to preach the word of God – “Go, and tell this people …” (v. 9).

Isaiah received forgiveness because he needed forgiveness. Forgiven by the Lord, Isaiah was being equipped for the work of bringing the Word of forgiveness to others. Isaiah’s testimony concerning the forgiveness of his own sins was a powerful part of his ministry to others.

Some Thoughts on Isaiah 6

Key's That Open The Doors To A Wonderful Blessed Life

Just imagine if your house was not built on concrete, but rather sand. Things could become very unstable at any given time. A earthquake could occur, or a winter storm. There could be a flood, or even a mudslide. The results could be very bad. Just imagine all the potential possibilities for disaster if your house was built on sand. Now imagine your life being built on sand.

Here are the words of Jesus on the matter. Life changing words that are over 2,000 years old, yet eternal.

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

They key is reading, knowing and understanding the sayings of Jesus.

Prophecy, Prophetic Or Off The Wall

Ok, your at the local church. You've just heard the message, enjoyed the worship and services are coming to an end. This man or woman walks up to you. They are a part of the prophetic ministry and they say "I have a word for you, or God showed me a vision about you" and you think, oh, OK, as the person says "I see you involved in leadership, You! have a leadership anointing upon you and God is going to plant you in solid ground where he can use you to His Glory".

So what do you think, and how do you respond to such a encouraging word? Is the word off the wall, the person, or could this be true prophecy and a extension of a truley anointed prophetic vessel sharing a word from the Lord with you?

Only you can decide ...

Make That Call, Send That Letter

Is there someone that you've lost contact with? Maybe a old high school friend, maybe a old co worker, maybe a relative or close close family member? We all get busy and the freeway of life just seems to consume our time. Grandparents, uncles, aunts, best friends and people that we've spent time with just seem to fall onto the back burners of our life. Many times we are reminded of those people in thought. We make plans to contact them, but life's freeway once again consumes us. Maybe the Holy Spirit is putting someone on your heart right now. Take time and make that call. You just might put a smile on some one's face.

We All, Can Make A Difference

Remember, we all can make a difference. In our homes, in our communities, with our families, on the job and at every corner. Each one of us has something to add to our world to make it a better place. Take time and make time to make a difference, a positive difference in the lives of others. Be a blessing to others and encourage them with your love and friendship.

Making A Difference One Life At A Time

It's a big world out there with countless people. People that are in need of friendship. People that are in need of love. Just imagine even the vast oceans of people online. Within such there are people that are handi capped, people that don't drive, that can't get around, senior citizens, the sick, and yes even widows and those confined to their homes. Many of them spend hours online reading and seeking online relationships. What a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others simply by being a online Friend. Reach out and make a difference, one life at a time.

What Must I Do To Be Saved? What Must I Do To Be Lost?

What must I do to be saved?” – “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31); “God is righteous and He declares righteous those who have faith in Jesus” (Romans 3:26). Trusting in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3), we receive the forgiveness of our sins – “the blood of Jesus, God’s Son, cleanses us from every sin” (1 John 1:7). We also enter into Christ’s victory over Satan – “They overcame Satan by the blood of the Lamb … ” (Revelation 12:11). Personal salvation is not about ourselves. It’s about our Saviour. We don’t save ourselves. Jesus saves us.
What must I do to be lost? Do nothing. Just keep on trying to feel good about yourself. Just keep on turning a deaf ear to what God is saying to you about your sin. Just keep on refusing to take seriously God’s call to repentance. Just keep on living the way you have been living. The way of sin is a hopeless way. Is there a better way? Is there a way of salvation? Is there a way of victory? Jesus is the Way. He is the true and living Way (John 14:6).

Personal Salvation (Psalm 7).

Finding Christ in the Psalms

The book of Psalms has been a precious possession of the Christian Church and the Christian believer ... Again and again, the Psalms point beyond themselves to the Lord Jesus Christ. This is especially true of Psalm 2, which is one of the Messianic Psalms, one of the Psalms which point clearly to the Christ. ... The ultimate meaning of this Psalm concerns the recognition of God as Lord of the earth. Man’s relation to God is serious. He who lives his life in the fear of God will keep his life. He who who does not fear God will lose his lfe. He stands under the judgment of God. This warning can become the route to hope. Take the warning seriously and you will enter into the blessing promised in the Psalm’s final words: “Blessed are all who trust in Him” (v. 12).

The Righteous Love Of God

Be Filled With The Spirit.

‘Be very careful how you live’(Ephesians 5:16). This is for all of us - in every situation of life. How are we to live? We are to ‘be filled with the Spirit’. We are to have ‘reverence for Christ’. We are to live ‘as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart’. We are to ‘be strong in the Lord’. We are to ‘pray at all times in the Spirit’. We are to ‘to love our Lord Jesus Christ with love undying’(Ephesians 5:18, 21; Ephesians 6:6, 10, 18, 24). Careful living emerges from true spirituality. It is not a matter of rules and regulations. It is a matter of love for Jesus. We’re not to be like the Pharisees: ‘On the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy’, ‘These people honour Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me’(Matthew 23:28; Mark 7:6). Take care - because you love Jesus!

A Call To Spiritual Maturity

Looking to the Lord, we are ‘radiant.’ He has ‘delivered’ us. He has ‘saved’ us (Psalm 34:4-6). Rejoicing in God’s salvation, we say, ‘I will bless the Lord at all times’(Psalm 34:1). We call upon others to worship the Lord with us - ‘O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His Name together!’(Psalm 34:3). We invite them to trust in the Lord and come to know the joy of His salvation - ‘O taste and see that the Lord is good! Happy is the man who takes refuge in Him!’(Psalm 34:8). We encourage them to keep on hearing the Word of the Lord so that they may learn to walk with God - ‘Come, O sons, listen to me, I will teach you the fear of the Lord’(Psalm 34:11). We seek to lead people on to spiritual maturity. We say to them, ‘Depart from evil, and do good’, praying that they will become ‘mature’, ‘trained by practice to know the difference between good and evil’(Psalm 34:14; Hebrews 5:14).

Our Confidence Is Not In Ourselves. Our Confidence Is In The Lord.

‘Praise the Lord... To Him belong eternal praise... Blessed is the man who fears the Lord... His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end he will look in triumph on his foes...’(Psalm 111:1, 10; Psalm 112:1, 8). Those who ‘fear the Lord’ have no need to live in fear of man. Those who know that ‘eternal praise belongs to the Lord’ can face their enemies with confidence. Our confidence is not in ourselves. Our confidence is in the Lord. We know how good the Lord has been to us - ‘He provided redemption for His people’. We have heard and believed the Good News of Christ. We need not ‘fear’ any ‘bad news’ which the devil sends our way. We ‘trust in the Lord’, confident that the ‘light ‘will triumph over the ‘darkness’. The Good News of Christ will triumph over the devil’s bad news (Psalm 111:9; Psalm 112:4, 7).

Preach The Gospel / Signs Following

Mar 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Mar 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Mar 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Words From The Ancient Past, Words To Change Your Future

‘Create in me a clean heart, O God… Cast me not away from Thy presence… Restore to me the joy of Thy salvation’(Psalm 51:10-12). These words come to us from the ancient past. They were first spoken many centuries ago. They can be the words which change your future. You can make them your words. David made a new beginning with God. You can make a new beginning with God. You have sinned. You need to be forgiven. Come to Christ. He says, ‘I will never turn away anyone who comes to Me’(John 6:37). You need to be ‘born again’. Receive Christ as your Saviour and be ‘born again’ – ‘born of God’(John 3:3,7; 1:12). You feel so weak, unable to be the person God wants you to be. Let ‘the joy of the Lord be your strength’(Nehemiah 8:10). Let His love reach you. Let His power make you a new person.

Jesus Christ Is The Good Shepherd, The Great Shepherd And The Chief Shepherd.

* Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd who died on the cross for us - "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep" (John 10:11).
* Jesus Christ is the Great Shepherd who rose from the dead for us - "May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen" (Hebrews 13:20-21).
* Jesus Christ is the Chief Shepherd who is coming again for us - "Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away" (1 Peter 5:2-4).

Victory - God's Gift, Our Calling

Victory does not come from ourselves. It comes from the Lord. It is His gift to us. We must never forget the words of the Apostle Paul: "Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 15:57). We are called to walk in the pathway of victory. In 1 Corinthians 10:13,Paul tells us that, when temptation comes our way, God provides "the way of escape." Jesus is "the way." He is the true and living way (John 14:6). We look to Him. He leads us in the pathway of His victory. We take our eyes off Him, and we are dragged down into our own defeat. "Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus" (Hebrews 12:1-2).

America, Not A Christian Nation

There's been a lot of talk of lately whereas some are saying and announcing that America is not a Christian nation to the world. I just viewed a interesting video whereas this was being challenged on quite a scale and forum.

It seems that some would attempt to at all cost choose to magnify there political interests around the world by stating such things.

Maybe some simply classes in history might assist them to clarify just how this nation came to be and was birthed. Maybe a vote of the people, "We The People" might also clarify the situation.

As for clout, and popularity. It seems to me that by denying such truths and realities is a sure way to becoming quite unpopular as time passes. For this is not the Change, that the American people will tolerate.

You see, dir sir. We know what the seeds and roots of this nation are all about. Many of us have great grandaddy's that were born here and out roots go deep into our heritage as a God fearing nation.

The Promise Of Victory And The Call To Discipleship

God wants to lead us in the way of victory (1 Chronicles 5:22). We dare not take His victory for granted if we are not willing to walk in the pathway of discipleship. As well as the promise of victory, there is also the warning against disobedience. If we are disobedient, we will be defeated (1 Chronicles 5:25-26). God doesn’t want us to be disobedient and defeated. He wants us to be obedient and victorious. With the promise of victory - ‘From victory to victory His army He shall lead’ - comes the call to discipleship - ‘Stand up! Stand up for Jesus, ye soldiers of the Cross!’ God is calling us to be faithful. He is warning us - ‘Do not love the world...If any one loves the world, love for the Father is not in him’. The Lord`s way is better than the world’s way - ‘Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind’ (1 John 2:15; Romans 12:2).

Works, Cold, Lukewarm

Rev 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

Rev 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and [that] the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Rev 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Rev 3:22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Hear, O Israel

Mar 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Mar 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

In The Lord, We Have Full Redemption.

We are not to pray to God with superficial words that don’t mean very much to us. Our prayer is to be a real cry from the heart: ‘Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord’(Psalm 130:1). We are to ‘cry for mercy’ with a deep awareness of how sinful we really are: ‘If You, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand?’(Psalm 130:3). We must come to God with deep humility - ‘My heart is not proud, O Lord’(Psalm 131:1). When we truly confess our sin, we receive God’s ‘unfailing love’and ‘forgiveness’(Psalm 130:4). ‘In the Lord’ we have ‘full redemption’(Psam 130:7). It is for ‘now’ - ‘The vilest offender who truly believes, that moment from Jesus a pardon receives’. It is ‘for evermore’ - ‘But purer and higher and greater will be our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see!’. ‘Praise the Lord!... Give Him the glory!’(Psalm 131:3; Church Hymnary, 374).

Have A Wonderful Week

Monday comes with lots of unfolding things like Tuesday thru Friday's life responsibilities. Work, family, children, school, breakfast, lunches, dinners. Oh Gosh!

However, Monday thru Friday's also come with the daily opportunity to pray and lift our days up to God in prayer.

Prayer changes things!

Summertime, Heat Waves, Challenges

It's going to be a hot summer this year with record breaking temps. Ouch! Something that I am not looking forward to is not only the heat, but the electric bill for running the air conditioner. Yet, consider this. Many do not have air conditioning. Some don't even have shelter. The elerly suffer.

So, lets buy some more China, or maybe do another fly by with the big bird, or maybe pump another billion dollars into another failed corporation.

Blessings In The Midst Of Trials

Our world seems to be in the midst of some very challenging times. From economic woes to potential worldwide kaos. Actually looking back over many years, it all started unfolding years ago.

Yet through the many seasons of my life I have found that God is faithful to those who place their trust in Him. In the midst of the seasons of misfortune and difficulties sometimes it doesn't seem that way. However as the seasons unfold one come to see that God is truly faithful to those that trust in Him.

All things work together for good...

Life Begins at 40?

They say, "Life begins at 40." What about 41? What about 42? .......... Remember Abraham. God asked him to go to a another country (Genesis 12:1). Abraham was 75 years old (Genesis 12:4)! You're never too old to begin a new life with Jesus Christ.

Psalm 23:1

* The Lord is my Shepherd.
* The Lord is my Shepherd.
* The Lord is my Shepherd.
* The Lord is my Shepherd.

When Shall These Things Be? what Shall Be The Sign Of Thy Coming, And Of The End Of The World?

Matt 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Mat 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

Mat 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Mat 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

Mat 24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

Mat 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

Mat 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Jesus Christ – The Good Shepherd, The Great Shepherd, The Chief Shepherd

Jesus Christ has passed ‘through the valley of the shadow of death’ for us (Psalm 23:4). Now, we rejoice in Him, our Shepherd of love - (a) the Good Shepherd who died for us (John 10:11); (b) the Great Shepherd who was raised for us (Hebrews 13:20-21); (c) The Chief Shepherd who is coming again for us (1 Peter 5:4). He restores us. He keeps us from ’straying like sheep’. He leads us ‘in paths of righteousness’ (Psalm 23:3; 1 Peter 2:25). For God’s people, there is a glorious eternal destiny: ‘I shall dwell in the house of the Lord for ever’ (Psalm 23:6).

Jesus Christ – The Name Of Our Salvation

Peter preached Christ with great boldness: ‘There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved’ (Acts 4:12). This boldness came from the Holy Spirit. Peter was ‘filled with the Holy Spirit’ (Acts 4:8). Don’t say, ‘I‘m no Peter’. Peter failed his Lord and had to be restored (Matthew 26:69-75; John 21:15-17). Peter drew great strength from ‘the company of those who believed’. They ‘gathered together’ for prayer. They ‘were of one heart and soul’…’ (Acts 4:31-33). Why did God deal so severely with Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11)? This was the start of something great. God refused to let His work be spoiled! There is a warning for us: Don’t pretend to be more holy than you really are. God sees what you’re really like. ‘Search me, O God…’ (Psalm 139:23-24).

The Holy Spirit Leads Us On To Heavenly And Eternal Glory.

Each of us must choose. We can ‘live according to the flesh’ or we can ‘live according to the Spirit’. We can ‘set the mind on the flesh’ or we can ‘set the mind on the Spirit’ (Romans 8:5-6). The new life in the Spirit is just the beginning. God is preparing us for the greater ‘glory that will be revealed in us’ (Romans 8:18). We have ‘the first fruits of the Spirit’. The Holy Spirit is ‘the guarantee of our inheritance’. He is the starter which whets our appetite for the main course! With Him in our hearts, we long for more - ‘an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you’, ‘the redemption of our bodies’, ‘the glorious liberty of the children of God’ (Romans 8:21-23; Ephesians 1:13-14; 1 Peter 1:3-5). Led by the Spirit, strong in the Spirit, we press on to glory (Romans 8:14, 26, 17).

The Parable Of The Good Samaritan

In the parable of the good Samaritan, there are several characters. Behind the parable, there is Jesus. He is the Storyteller. We look at the story Jesus told. We look at the characters in the story. consider the characters in the parable. We also focus our attention on Jesus. He is our Saviour. He is our Lord. The parable begins with the words, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho" (Luke 10:30). There were others who were also travelling on the road to Jericho - (a) the robbers; (b) the priest and the Levite; (c) the good Samaritan. In these characters, we see three very different attitudes to life. As we look at these characters, we are challenged concerning our own attitude to other people.

Keep On Praying.

Genesis 18:16-33
In the face of the threatened judgment of God upon Sodom and Gomorrah, we find Abraham engaging in mighty intercessory prayer. He is not concerned only about himself and his own salvation. He is prayerfully committed to seeking the salvation of others. This is a mark of spiritual maturity - a deep concern for the salvation of sinners, leading to earnest intercessory prayer for them. Abraham drew near to God (23; James 4:8). He pleaded with the God of grace to have mercy on the city (23-25; 2 Peter 3:9; 1 Timothy 2:3-4, 1:15; John 3:17). With a deep love for the people, Abraham prays with boldness and persistence (27,32; Hebrews 4:16). A great many people refused to honour God, yet His purpose was not hindered. The remnant seemed impossibly small. It was the beginning of blessing for all nations. ‘To God be the glory, Great things He has done’ (Church Hymnary, 374).

Open Your Heart To Christ - And Let Him Pour His Blessing Into Your Life.

Jesus' words - "Give, and it will be given to you" (Luke 6:38) - are full of wisdom. He calls us to be generous and consistent in giving ourselves to Him and to others. he shows us the way of generous and consistent giving. Throughout his whole life, he gave Himself for us. In His death, He gave himself for us. In His self-giving, in His life and His death, we see the God-given pattern for our giving. We are to learn from Him. We are to become like Him. In the Story of Jesus, we read of His death. We also read of His resurrection. God raised Him from the dead. In Jesus' own life, there is the perfect fulfilment of His promise: "Give, and it will be given to you." Jesus gave His life for us. God gave Him His life again. God can give life to you and me - the life of His Spirit of life; the life of Christ, risen from the dead, but we must give ourselves to Him. If we are to receive His blessing, we must open our hearts and let Him pour His blessing into us.

"Give, And It Will Be Given To You" - God-Given Wisdom In A Few Simple Words!

The importance of choosing the way of whole-heartedness rather than lapsing into the way of half-heartedness is emphasized very powerfully in James 1:5-8 - "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does." These words of James are concerned with asking God for wisdom and receiving wisdom from God. Wisdom is not the same as intellectualism. There are many people who have learned a great deal about many different subjects. Sadly, they have still to learn that truly God-given wisdom can be expressed in a few simple words, which can transform our way of thinking and our way of living - "Give, and it will be given to you" (Luke 6:38),

Give God The First Place - And The Blessing Will Return.

Our giving is to be whole-hearted, generous and consistent. It is to be the giving of ourselves to the Lord. Once, we were whole-hearted in our commitment to the Lord. We have allowed ourselves to become half-hearted. Is this the sad story of your life? How sad it is when our zeal for the Lord grows weak. This is the sadness of a joy which has been lost. Once, there was joy in our hearts. Once, there was joy in our lives. Now, the joy has gone. Is this the sad story of your life? How sad it is when we lose the joy of the Lord. Can the times of joy come again? Yes! Jesus says, "Give, and it will be given to you" (Luke 6:38). When we give Him His rightful place - the first place - in our hearts and lives, the blessing will return. God gives His blessing to those who are whole-hearted. Those, who are content to remain half-hearted, will miss out on God's blessing.

God Has Blessed You So Much. He Wants To Bless You Even More.

We learn to trust in the Lord as we take time to remember how much the Lord has done for us. It's easy to forget. Some of us have known much of God's blessing in the past. We have been hungry for God's blessing. God has poured out His blessing upon us. Somewhere along the line, we have become complacent. We have begun to settle for less of God's blessing. We have walked more closely with God in past years. With the passing of the years, we have allowed things to slip. Our desire to know and love God is a lot weaker than it once was. God is calling us back to himself. Remember how much God blessed you when you walked more closely with Him. Come close to the Lord again. He will bless you more than ever before. To each of us, Jesus says, "Give, and it will be given to you."

You Won't Be The Loser If You Give Yourself To The Lord.

When Jesus says, "Give, and it will be given to you" (Luke 6:38), He means it. If we are to learn to live a more God-centred life, a more other-centred life, we must learn to believe God's promise to those who are living by the values of His heavenly and eternal Kingdom. To those who are getting too attached to the things of this world, God's Word comes as a Word of challenge: "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have." To those who are hesitant about committing themselves to the Lord, God comes with His Word of promise, "I will never leave you. I will never forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). You won't be the loser if you give yourself to the Lord. He will bless you abundantly, as you give yourself to Him. If, however, you hold back from giving yourself to the Lord, you will miss out on so much of the blessing He wants to give to you. Trust in the Lord, believing that He will bless you greatly as you give yourself, more truly and more fully, to Him - "Give, and it will be given to you."

A Call to God-Centred Living And A Strong Warning

"Give, and it will be given to you" (Luke 6:38). Along with Jesus' precious promise, we have His strong warning. We must take care that we do not become like those to whom Jesus says, "You hypocrite" (Luke 6:42). If we give little of ourselves in the service of God and others, we will know little of the blessing of God in our own lives. "Give, and it will be given to you." Whenever the word, "giving", is used in the Church, people think about money. It is right that we should think about the giving of money, since it is a part of of our giving to the Lord. It should, however, be emphasized that it is only a part of our giving to the Lord. It is sadly possible to give money to the Lord without really giving ourselves to the Lord. When we think about giving, we are to think about the giving of money to God, but we must not stop there. God is calling us to give ourselves to Him.

"Trust And Obey ... "

God has given great promises to those who will "trust and obey": "Trust and obey for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey." Sadly, however, we are often much more self-centred than God-centred and other-centred. Very often, when we are called to give ourselves in the service of God and others, we react in a self-centred way. We don't ask, "Will I please the Lord, if I do this?" We ask, "How's this going to affect me?" We don't ask "Are other people going to be blessed, if I do this?" We ask, "How's this going to fit in with my plans for myself?"

A Call to God-Centred Living And A Precious Promise Of Blessing

Jesus' words, "Give, and it will be given to you" (Luke 6:38), are followed by a precious promise. To those who choose to live a less self-centred life, choosing to live a life which is more God-centred and other-centred, God gives this precious promise - 'You will not be the loser. You will be blessed by the Lord. His blessing will be poured into your life.' "Give, and it will be given to you." This is God's promise. We don't ask, "Will I please the Lord, if I do this?" We ask, "How's this going to affect me?" We don't ask "Are other people going to be blessed, if I do this?" We ask, "How's this going to fit in with my plans for myself?" Jesus says, "Give, and it will be given to you." Will we take Him at His Word? Will we live in obedience to His Word, convinced that "it is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35)?

Make The Kingdom Of God Your Highest Priority.

Jesus teaches us to live in the light of the Kingdom of God. He turns the values of this world upside-down - "Blessed are you who are poor for yours is the Kingdom of God" (Luke 6:20). He calls us to make the Kingdom of God our highest priority. Living our life in the light of God's Kingdom, we will come to see that the things which we have are not ours at all. They have been given to us by God. They are to be used in His service. Living as God's servants will mean living a life of love - "Love your enemies" (Luke 6:27). Jesus teaches us that loving leads to giving: "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you" (Luke 6:38).

Freedom Brings The Spirit

Families Pulling Together

With all the economic problems that our country is facing, it is time for families to pull together and help each other. I believe we will see a increase of families sharing residence, coming together under the same roof and making ends meet. May the fellowships be filled with love.

Blessings, in the love of Christ
